Maycee Summer

On January 20th at 7:58 am, Maycee Summer was born. We have anxiously been waiting for her arrival and were so happy to see her born healthy and strong. She weighed 7lbs 14 oz. and was 20 3/4 inches long. Everything about her birth went so smoothly. She had no problems at all, she took to nursing really well. She is a beautiful baby and she is very good so far. We had one really tough night, our last one in the hospital. Because I have c-sections, my milk comes in around day 4, so my poor baby was so frustrated nursing because she put forth so much effort for very little reward. She was hungry and as soon as my milk came in, she went right back to nursing well and being a very content baby.

Maycee is smothered daily by her brothers and sister. They adore her and can't get enough. The first thing they do when they walk in the door is come and hold Maycee. Shaylee makes up songs to sing to her every day and will hold her for a long time as she sings to her. Jaron loves to give her kisses and pat her head. It has been so fun for me to see the kids with this baby.

We are so happy to have Maycee in our family and feel so complete. Welcome Maycee, we love you!

My Baby Shower

On January 12th my friends, Julie and Nicole threw me a baby shower. They did a great job and I had such fun seeing all the cute baby girl things everyone so generously gave to Maycee. I told Shaylee she could come so that she and mommy could have some bonding time. She got all prettied up and then told me, "Mom, just call me Princess Shaylee!" So she was princess Shaylee for the rest of the night. She loved showing all the baby things to her primary teacher from last year.

I am so grateful for such good friends who take care of me and are so willing to help me out or throw me a party! :) Thank you everyone for all the fabulous gifts. Maycee is one lucky little girl.

Three More Days....

until Miss Maycee arrives!!!! We are so excited to welcome our new baby girl into our family. We have been counting down her arrival with our birthday blocks this month and every day as we flip the numbers over, it gets more and more exciting! I am so excited to see the kids reaction to her. My kids are so much older now than they were when Jaron was born and they have been anticipating her arrival for so long, I just know they are going to be over the moon when they come and see her. It will be such fun to see. I will post on the blog as soon as I can, but facebook will be updated sooner.

New Year's Day Fun!

New Year's day was spent cleaning up Christmas and putting things away. We also watched some football and switched the crib from Jaron's room to Shaylee's room. It was a busy day, but we got a lot done. That evening we decided to go to dinner with the kids and then go to zoo lights. The kids were so excited and we had a great time. It was super cold that night, but it was really clear and the lights were beautiful.

YIKES!!!!!

We had such a busy day yesterday, and got home late from eating dinner and running some errands. Pete put the kids in bed around 9:30 and then came downstairs. He was getting ready to head out to Walmart for a few things when all of the sudden we hear this horrific screaming coming from upstairs! He runs up and then when I get to the stairs he is running back down telling me Kenyon has a dry wall anchor that hooks the towel rack into the wall stuck in his foot. I will be honest, I had to pace downstairs for a few minutes to get the courage to go upstairs. I am not good with gross things or blood especially when I am 38 weeks pregnant. So, I finally get up the courage and go up there and he is sitting on his floor just screaming. So I got on the floor with him and rubbed his back while he is saying, "Mommy, why me?" over and over and over again!!! It was awful. Pete, meanwhile was thinking of ways to calm him down and gave him a sucker and a vanilla diet coke. (I thought it was so funny that these were the two items he came up with!) Pete was going to pull it out, but we just weren't sure what to do, so he called our friend Grayden, who is a podiatrist and lives close by. He came and was able to pull it out. Kenyon finally calmed down after it was out. I was shocked with how far it went in. Looking at it, I thought it was only in about 1/4 inch, but it was in an entire inch! Yikes!

Pete and I put him in bed and then googled nurse hot lines trying to figure out if we should take him to get a tetanus shot. While searching we found a 24/7 urgent care in downtown Vancouver. I called her and she said to bring him in. So, we wrapped him up and Pete took him to the Urgent Care. He didn't need a tetanus shot because he got one when he was five, but they x-rayed his foot to make sure no bones were fractured. Thankfully none were, luckily it had gone in at an angle. They flushed it out and gave him some antibiotics and then wrapped it all up in an ace bandage. He was so good, so Pete took him to get nachos at Taco Bell (his favorite food).

We got to bed about 2 am and were just so relieved that it wasn't any worse. He can't walk on it, so he stayed home from church today and will be staying home from school tomorrow. We are hoping to get him crutches, so he can go on Tuesday.

Thank heavens, for good friends, 24 hour urgent care clinics, an awesome husband and dad, and for little blessings sent from above!

New Year's Eve!!!

We had a great time ringing in the New Year this year. We even let Jaron stay up until he crashed and amazingly he made it to midnight! I was shocked! We invited our friend Kristy to celebrate with us and we had such an amazing time. We played games, ate yummy food and the two little ones watched movies. At midnight we drank sparkling cider and toasted in 2011. I love our laid back and family friendly New Year's Eve celebration!

Christmas Day

I just love Christmas! It is my favorite holiday. Christmas Eve and Christmas morning are my two favorite parts of Christmas. I love how Christmas Eve is centered around the Savior and His birth. I love how excited my kids are on Christmas morning when they come downstairs and see all the presents Santa left them. It just all makes me so happy.

This Christmas morning, Kenyon, woke me up at 4:45 am and says, "Mom, it's Christmas morning!" I pointed at the alarm clock and said, "Kenyon, do you see the time?" He just started to cry, he was devastated that he was going to have to wait longer to see what Santa brought! He got in bed with me and started counting down the minutes until 6:00. So, I got no more sleep as he would say, "45 more mins, 30 more minutes....." and so on. Let's just say I was a little tired come Christmas morning this year. We got up at six and the kids were all so excited! Pete and I were so tired, we didn't get a lot of great pictures, but at least we got some.

I took nap later that day and then Pete and I made Christmas dinner together. We invited our friends the Gowans over for dinner and we had such a good time eating great food and playing our new Pictionary game. It was a fun Christmas and I just love that all my kids are always so happy with what they get even if it's not exactly what they asked for.
