Sausages and Daddy! What more could a little girl want?

Shaylee had her farm breakfast at school yesterday. Every spring the preschoolers at her preschool learn about farms and farm animals. At the end of the farm unit they have a farm breakfast that one parent is invited to attend. I was planning on going until Kenyon woke up sick that morning. So, I made a quick call to Pete to see if he could go, so she would have a parent there. Luckily his job is flexible and he was able to go.

CHEEEEEESE!!!!!

They had a good time and Shaylee really enjoyed eating the sausage and having daddy there to watch her little performance.

Basketball Season

Basketball is my favorite sport. I played church basketball in high school and I just love it. It's fun to play and fun to watch. I am also a HUGE Utah Jazz fan. They are my favorite sports team. So, last year, when my friend Kirse asked me if I wanted to put Brandon in basketball with Ethan, I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately, Brandon did not enjoy himself. He decided that basketball was not for him and after the season refused to play at recess or even at home. Even if all the neighborhood friends were playing, he would just sit and watch. I wanted him to give basketball a second chance. His coach last year left a lot to be desired. He was a terrible coach. So, I convinced Brandon to give it one more chance and this year, Ethan's dad was the coach for his team. He loves basketball now and even plays at recess! That is a major break through. Tim actually taught him the rules and skills of basketball instead of just scrimmaging all the time. They practiced defense, layups, free throws, dribbling, and he taught them about traveling and double dribbling and fouling. He now understands what basketball is all about and he really enjoyed himself. Thank Heavens! He plans on playing again next year. His team had a great season! They started off rough, but really worked at it and got so much better. They ended the season 6 wins and 4 losses. I was really impressed. Brandon even made some baskets in there. Good job Brandon!

Kenyon has wanted to play basketball ever since he saw Brandon play last year. So, we put him in with his friend Alex. We weren't so lucky on the coach again! His coach basically taught him nothing, but he still likes basketball and I decided that we would go to the park this year and play basketball together. Shaylee can play on the play structure and the rest of us will play basketball. Because we all know that Jaron will be right in the middle of it!!!!! Basketball fan that he is!!! :)

ST. PADDY'S DAY

For St. Patrick's Day this year, I decided to have a play date for our ward the day before on March 16th. I was so busy the whole time making sure that everything went smoothly, I forgot to take pictures. Oops. We had a great time and I enjoyed all the company of the ladies and my kids enjoyed playing with all the kids who came. We had A LOT of people here. I would say around 15 or so moms and 30 or more kids. It was a full house!

On St. Patrick's Day I woke up early, so we could get everyone ready for school and I could make green waffles for breakfast. This has become a tradition ever since they spent night at their friends the May's two years ago for St. Patrick's Day and Kirse made them green waffles. The kids all dressed in their green clothes and headed off to school. We usually have corned beef and cabbage for dinner, but this year I made it on Sunday instead because Tuesday was such a busy day. So, we had leftover corned beef and cabbage instead!

We love St. Patrick's Day in our house and we had a great day!

My little ballerina!!!!!

Miss Jessica showing Shaylee how to tiptoe

Shaylee started taking dance classes on February 27th. I was so excited and anxious to see if she would like it or not. With her you never know. She can be very stubborn if she sets her mind to something. Luckily she LOVED it. She had so much fun and looked so cute walking on her tiptoes and taking giant steps. When the class was over and I asked her if she wanted to sign up and take dance every Friday, she said "YES, YES, YES!". So, of course, I signed her up and she is loving every minute of it. She got measured for her costume for the recital last week and I am so excited to see her dance as a crab in the "The Little Mermaid".

Blue and Gold

Brandon's first cub scout Blue and Gold Banquet was on February 26th. Each Cub Scout was supposed to make a cake about the theme. The theme was "On the Road to the Blue and Gold". So, we decided to make a road with cars on it for his cake. It turned out super cute! Thanks, Karen for the great idea.

Some of the other cakes

Brandon had a fun time with his friends. Even though I'm not really thrilled about the whole Cub Scout thing, Brandon seems to love it. He is very excited for the Pinewood Derby coming up. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun once the car is finally done. That ones on Pete. Have fun dad!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

My birthday was a week ago today on February 26th. As I get older, I don't really look forward to my birthday. So, when it does come, because it inevitably will, I try to make the most of it. My husband and friends are always really good about making it a special day for me. This year I got to share my happy day with the Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet. That made my birthday extra special and exciting! (For those of you who don't know me so well, that was said with dripping sarcasm!)

I went to lunch with three of my very dear friends. We ate at Olive Garden which is my fave! It was so yummy! Thanks Karen, Nicole and Julie for taking me to my very favorite place. Then after Pete got home we quickly opened presents before heading out to the church for the banquet. We came home put kids in bed and that was my very exciting 33rd birthday. I know, I party WAY too much.

Luckily, Pete is a very sweet husband and so I celebrated my birthday all weekend. We went to The Cheesecake Factory, my other most favoritest place, on Saturday and then had friends over for cake and icecream on Sunday. Pete bought me the yummiest chocolate cake from Safeway. I'm not normally a cake lover, but this was SUPER good.

Thank you everyone for such a great birthday. I am very grateful for such a wonderful family and some very sweet friends.

This is my favorite present! Isn't it cute? I LOVE it!

Dr. Seuss- Green Eggs and Ham

Kenyon's first grade class had Dr. Seuss day at school on Wednesday February 25th. Shaylee was sick that morning, so Pete went with Kenyon and enjoyed the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast. They had a great time.
