Phelon Family Reunion

The annual Phelon family reunion was on the weekend of the 24th of July. On Thursday night July 23rd we went out to dinner with Pete's mom and his siblings. We had a great time eating the pretty good food (We went to Sizzler's which was disappointing because Utah has so many great places to eat and Sizzler is only an average restaurant, but luckily the company made up for that!) and visiting with all of Pete's siblings who we don't see very often.

That night we stayed over at Paul and Inger's house. We woke up to a fabulous breakfast that Inger had prepared. She is such a great cook and we always eat well when we are at their house. We spent the morning hanging out at Paul's house until it was time for the reunion to start. We had a great time at the reunion playing on the giant slip n slide made out of billboards, playing dodge ball and indoor soccer, watching a DVD made by Pete's niece Jennifer on Kathy's life, watching fireworks and having a yummy barbeque. The next morning we ended this wonderful reunion with a fantastic pancake breakfast. Thanks to Paul, Inger, Tom, Val and Jennifer for planning such a fun reunion.

That's a lot of burgers! There are a lot of Phelon's to feed.

Playing with cousins

My kids love to play at Grandma's house in the back yard with their cousins!

My mom has these wind chimes on her porch and all the kids had to have Grandma lift them up to ring the wind chimes. Crazy kids! And poor Grandma got her weight lifting in by the end of the day!

Fun at Boondock's

Back in Utah after our fabulous trip to the great lakes, Pete and I visited with family and enjoyed being together with our kids again.

While I hung out with my mom and sisters, Pete decided to take the boys to Boondock's to spend the day. They had a great time, going on the rides, playing laser tag, riding the bumper , min golfing and riding the go carts.

Forgotten post

July 5th-

I forgot to post these pictures. We went to Pete's brother, Dan's house and enjoyed hanging out with them and doing fireworks and sparklers!

Mallory thought it was fun to dress Shaylee up
and put makeup on her. They were princesses!

Jaron also got into the action!

Day 11- Our last day!

July 16-

On the last day of our trip we did a little more shopping in Cleveland and then we headed back to Chicago. Along the way we saw another lighthouse and of course we saw more of beautiful Lake Michigan.

Once we got to Chicago, we knew exactly where we were going to go for dinner. Giordano's deep dish pizza. You have never tasted a pizza until you've eaten one of these. Watch out baby! YUMMY! After putting in our order, we had 45 minutes to wander until the pizza would be ready. (yes it does take 45 minutes to cook-it is that thick!) We headed back to the Hershey store to get out dessert. More yummy brownies. While we were there we got a bucket of candy from their cool candy machine to take home to our darlings. After picking up the pizza we headed back to our hotel where we feasted on the best pizza of all time. We packed our bags with our many treasures we had found along the way and headed to bed.

The next morning we returned our rental car, got on our plane and headed back to Utah and our little ones. We were so excited to see them. We missed them so much and couldn't wait to get back to them. We had a wonderful reunion and we were reminded for the next few weeks constantly every day that Shaylee missed us when we were gone. She must have told each of us a hundred times- I love you! I missed you while you were gone! It's good to know that she loves us!

We had such a great time, being together and seeing this beautiful part of the country. I couldn't have asked for a better trip. I loved every moment! Thanks Pete for planning it and putting in all the time and effort into making the best use of our time! I LOVED it!

Day 10- Kirtland and Baseball

Cleveland
July 16-

When we got up today we headed to Kirtland Ohio to see the church historical sites there. Pete and I had been there nine years ago, but they have changed it a lot. The main road that used to run through the sites was closed and moved, so people could easily walk to the sites. They added a nice visitors center and rebuilt the saw mill and the ashery. It was really nice to be able to just walk around and see everything. After we went on the tour we went and saw the Kirtland temple. We didn't go inside just took pictures outside.

The Beautiful Temple

After going to Kirtland we went shopping in Cleveland. We wanted to get as much Indians apparral as we could. We bought each child a shirt, a baseball hat, a baseball bat, and a back pack. (Jaron did not get a back pack) Pete and I also got clothes and a hat. We had such fun going into all the stores and seeing all the Indians stuff. It was such fun for us. We had lunch at Friendly's and of course one of their fabulous ice cream sundaes! YUM!

That night we went to Indians baseball game at Jacob's field! It was dollar dog night and I got TWO hot dogs! Woo hoo! The Indians were playing the Seattle Mariners and we made sure everyone knew that Pete was Washington's biggest Indians fan! The Indians won, of course (we are good luck to our teams- every baseball game we've been to this year our team has won!). It was so fun and we hung around the stadium for awhile afterwards, going into the kids team store and just soaking up the fact that we were there. It was really a fun night and yes, I do love baseball!!! It's not just Pete. He has converted me!

This guy goes to all the Cleveland Home games
and plays his drum! He is well known.

All decked out!

Pete took this picture of me from up top.
I didn't know he was taking a picture!
